Letter 4 - On Family

Hey Girlie,

Day 4...let's talk about family. They're tough sometimes, right? Leo Tolstoy wrote that, "Happy families are all alike; every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way." We don't want to be one of those boring old happy families ;)

Seriously though. In families, you get a bunch of different personalities, or sometimes overly similar personalities, and they just don't always fit together. For some reason, being kind to strangers seems simpler than being kind to those closest to us.

But let me tell you something that I've learned. Friends, no matter how dear, will come and go. Some may last a very long time, but no one, and I do mean NO ONE will be around as long as family. Mother Teresa told us, "If you want to change the world, go home and love your family."

It takes a conscious effort to be a positive light to those closest to you. Take the time to make that effort. Because God gave you to our family for a reason, no matter how annoying we might be ;)

Love you,

Aunt B
