Ok guys, I'm back from San Diego, and back to work and real life. I'm super excited to share some of the trip with y'all (post canceled flights,) because Cali is pretty fantastic! Fun fact though, we managed to pick one of the coldest weekends on record for this time of year. It was actually warmer in Ohio somehow...
Before I dive in, I want to catch up a little on life because I've been pretty absentee around here. There has been quite a bit change in my life recently. Some good, some bad, but lots of change. You should probably be made aware that I do NOT handle change well y'all. I used to (sometimes still do,) get physically ill about it. I'm getting a little concerned that this blog has really turned into a testament of just how poorly adjusted I am to real life! ;)
Life comes in seasons, and I know the tough ones make the good look even better, so I'm grateful for this season too. This trip came at the perfect time, and I want to highlight a few of my favorite things.
First up, food, aka, the usual. We ended up going back to this place twice because it was delicious and affordable. It's called "The Breakfast Republic, and was very close to where we stayed in the Ocean Beach area. I'm honestly not a huge breakfast person, but they just may have converted me. I stuck with the eggs and pancakes this time, but next time I get out there, I plan on trying the Oreo french toast because, well why wouldn't I?!
This trip was a reunion with my two best girlfriends from high school, and like any good Catholic girls, we had to check out some new churches! Our favorite find was Our Lady of the Rosary in the Little Italy district. There was an incredible priest that pretty much yelled at all of us for not going to the Stations of the Cross, and somehow still made us smile because, well, he was right. You know how sometimes you can just tell that it's tough love because he cares about you? It's a beautiful old church, and well worth stopping in to see the murals inside.
Also, this house is right down the street, and I'm totally convinced it's the house from "Up," so go check that out before it heads off to Paradise Falls ;)
Last, but certainly not least, we had to do the "tourist thing." We checked out the beach at Coronado...it was chilly, but I was not about to go to Cali and not go down to the beach! We also decided to pay the money to see the USS Midway, and it was 100% worth it. I've never been on an aircraft carrier before and, wow. I've always felt a sincere appreciation for our military, but whenever I hear or even better, see, how many sacrifices have been and are still being made so that we can live freely in this country...well, it gives me chills. I even found myself a man...he's a very good listener ;)
I think that about does it for the highlights! I'm not sure all of Cali is really up my alley(see what I did there,) but San Diego is definitely on my list of places to go back and explore some more. Stay classy San Diego ;)
