As I write this, I’m just sitting in the airport with my trail mix because, #snacksarelife. It is 2pm. I have been here since 5am. My flight was delayed, then canceled due to a dent in the plane. I literally have zero knowledge of how that affects the flight, but apparently, it ain’t good. I’ve been planning this trip for months, to reunite with my two best girlfriends from high school, and I just couldn’t miss it. So I shelled out the money for a brand new flight, because my original airline wasn’t flying out to San Diego anymore today. And you know what, I’m not very happy about it. Not at all.
The longer I sit here, the more aggravated I’ve become. I just called my mama to vent, and as per usual, she comes in with the words of wisdom. It could be a whole lot worse. You have food, a book, a laptop, and you’re safe. As much as I really didn’t want to hear it, she’s right. These are some serious first world problems happening over here. So I’ve decided, this isn’t going to ruin my trip or my day. Because really, what’s the point in that?
If you follow along on Instagram, you know I posted a “surrender” prayer by St. Ignatius Loyola a few days ago, and said I would be praying that all through Lent. Apparently, God figured this was as good a time as any to test my sincerity anddddd...pretty sure I just failed in epic fashion. So let’s look on the bright side, shall we? I’m trying to salvage this thing over here, so humor me;) The airport makes for some brilliant people watching, and I have overheard quite a few people’s life stories today, so that keeps life interesting. I’ve also seen a LOT of people taking selfies in front of random airport signs. Maybe I should start charging to be their photographer. Anyways, I made friends with the airport bookstore lady, whose son is in the Navy out in San Diego. You’re welcome for that information. Oh, and there is a Chick-fil-a in this airport! So all is not lost.
My new flight should be boarding in about an hour, fingers crossed. And hey, I planned on just writing a post about how simple and easy and fun this trip was after the fact, but keepin it real over here. #strugglebus On another note, I think maybe I need to stop with the surrender prayer, at least for the rest of the trip. No more pop quizzes, ok Papa? Ok.
