So currently, my commute time is long. Like, an hour in the morning, and an hour and a half on the way home long. I'm not complaining or anything, but maybe I am just a tiny bit ;) My little Civic is kicking booty and breaking records with all these miles, and it's safe to say we spend a lot of quality time together.
As long as I can remember, we've lived out in the middle of nowhere, so I'm pretty accustomed to driving, and over the years I've made an effort to not waste that travel time. The following is a list of some things I do to pass the time!
1) Books on CD
Most recently read/listened too: Longbourn by Jo Baker. - This is an author's imagination bringing to life the servants from the Bennett household in Pride and Prejudice. While it is a very interesting take, just a heads up, there are some very detailed descriptions of human suffering, in multiple forms.
While it can be tough to find good books on tape at times, they are out there! Sometimes you just don't know until you start if they will be good/appropriate. There have been many times where I began listening, only to pull it out and return it to the library. I recently did some research though, and I have a few new ones on the way to my library! I'll share them with you if they end up being good reads.
Maybe this one seems obvious, but what a perfect time to have a little chat with the Lord! I usually get my rosary and chaplet in. I'm also currently in search of a good recording of the rosary, so if anyone knows of one, Let me know!
3) Podcasts/Youtube Videos
Depending on my mood, I'll listen to any number of random podcasts, or funny youtube videos. Y'all, John Crist is hilarious. And clean. But not one of those clean comedians who actually isn't funny, So go check him out, right now.
I'm big on this one. Sometimes I just turn everything off, and use the silence to plan, and dream stuff up. Nothing is off limits. My future, planning vacations that most likely will never occur, my schedule for the week, a garden I want to plant, etc, etc. One thing I try to do...write things down as soon as I get a chance! Otherwise I forget all my super genius ideas ;)
5) Music, of course
My current favorites include anything from 1) Jordan Davis, 2) Judah and the Lion, 3) Jack Johnson, 4) The Greatest Showman soundtrack, or 5) Thomas Rhett as per usual. For the record, Thomas Rhett and his wife are literally the sweetest couple, with the cutest kids. Go follow them on Instagram or something, because they deserve it ;)
So what do y'all do on your drives? Favorite books, podcasts, songs, prayers? Tell me all the things!
