Ok, I'll be the first to admit it. I am pretty much the worst at knowing anything about beauty stuff. You won't meet very many 27 year olds who don't have their ears pierced...but here I am ;) I didn't own my own makeup until my Sophomore year of college. To this day, I borrow my Mom's foundation if I need to get fancy ;) I DO, however, own my own mascara, and eyeshadow though, so as you can see, I'm pretty big time.
Let me explain a little bit. First of all, I've always been an athlete. How girls keep full makeup face from running all over the place when they sweat, I will never understand. I was not gifted with that talent so, yeah. Secondly, I grew up with my brother, and a couple of guy best friends, so zero peer pressure. Third, and this may in fact be the biggest reason...I'm just too lazy. It's not at the top of my list, when I could sleep for another ten minutes. In a priority list fight, sleep and food will ALWAYS win ;)
All that said, I've recently become much more cognizant of trying to take care of my skin. Considering I don't cover much up, I figure I better make it look as nice as possible on it's own. Enter, Primally Pure. I don't usually get too excited over this stuff, but I LOVE this company. Their products are all natural, with no harmful chemicals, and each ingredient listed on the packaging. About two months ago, I ordered three products, and they threw in a natural deodorant for free.
I've never been good at sticking with a routine, but I've been using this stuff religiously every night. So here's what it is, and how I use it:
1) Oil Cleanser for Mixed Skin - I massage about a dime's worth of the oil all over my face. Then using a warm washcloth, I gently wipe it off.
2) Spray - This spray is a toner, and cuts down on inflammation all in one. I've seen a huge difference just in these couple of months in the size of my pores, and redness of my skin tone.
3) Moisturizer - The lotion isn't too heavy, which is perfect for putting it on before bed.
In the morning, I just splash with some cold water, and I'm good to go! I've noticed less redness, clearer, brighter skin, and practically zero breakouts. Y'all, I've been using it LESS THAN TWO MONTHS! For the record, this is not an ad, I just really like their products. While it can be a bit pricier than what you get in stores, it works, and it's natural. Plus, I've got at least another couple of months left in my bottles, so it is well worth the small splurge.
I wish I had a good "before" picture to compare, but below is "now" picture...and you'll have to trust me on this one, it is MUCH better ;)
Lastly, I mentioned a free deodorant! I've been wanting to switch to natural deodorant for a while, but I've been a little scared, to be honest. As bad as antiperspirant is for you, I have to say, I enjoy not sweating through all my clothes ;)
Here is a link to a blog post on Primally Pure's website, that explains the transition to all natural deodorant. Since it was free, I bit the bullet and decided to try it. I'm not going to lie, I don't love the scent(the free one was geranium.) But when this one runs out, I'm going to try a different scent that they offer, and see if that one is a bit better. I DO however, love the feeling, and the lack of irritation I always experienced with other deodorants. The transition was much easier than I expected.
I haven't made the full switch to natural everything yet, as it takes time, research and money. But if you need to choose a starting point, I highly recommend Primally Pure!
