I knew this would happen. I knew it. I would go to Nashville, fall completely in love with it, and not want to come back. I was not wrong.
I'm a huge country music nerd, from George Jones to Florida Georgia Line, I like it all. I've listed out my top five experiences below, and I'm already making a list for as soon as I can go back ;)
1) The Grand Ole Opry
Y'all, I could not even with this place. The history, the laid back nature of everything, the circle of wood from the original Opry house that I got to stand on...NOT mad about it. The only thing that would have improved the tour is if Dolly had randomly shown up because, well obviously she makes everything better.
2 & 3) 12 South - Draper James & Jeni's Ice Cream
The 12 South district was a recommendation from Leah over at Life as Leah Knows! It's pretty much a shopping strip, with some yummy food and ice cream mixed in. Reese Witherspoon's store Draper James is there...and let me tell you. If I ever come into a windfall, I will own all the things. SO pretty and southern. All of the shops have really cool architecture as well, such as Imogene + Willie below!
Jeni's Ice Cream, also a must. We waited in quite a line for it, but it was worth it. Also just happened to be in line in front of Florida Georgia Line's lead guitarist, who was there with his daughter. No biggie. He was super sweet and down to earth, in case you were wondering!
4) Broadway at Night
I'm not really a going out kinda girl. I'm more of a PJ's at 7, reality tv kinda girl. Because I'm kind of old now. That point was driven home by the fact that I've been home over a week, and I'm still sick soooo yeah. BUT you're probably much cooler than me, and even if you're not, it's worth it. The live music is great, and it is in every single bar. My favorite was the Honkytonk, which is a three level bar. You can get three different bands without ever leaving the building! (Note: there are a few of these multi level places, I just liked the environment there the best.)
5) Martin's Bar-B-Que Joint
Another place we waited in line for, that was totally worth it. The food comes out quickly, and the laid back vibe of the restaurant makes you want to hang around. We went on Sunday before we headed home, but they have live music in the evenings as well...plus a ping pong table, so it almost has that hang out/brewery type of vibe to me. Aaaaand I don't have a picture because we were too hungry to focus on picture takin ;) You'll just have to take my word for it and try it!
Have you been to Nashville? Planning a trip? I want to hear about it so I can keep planning my next one :)
